FINE ART FLOWER AND PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Join myself and Bloomologie for a beautiful midsummer fine-art floral and photography workshop held at one of our favourite places, The Walled Nursery in Kent. In the impossibly pretty, Victorian Pelargonium House, we will explore the artistry and storytelling of wedding flowers, using the finest locally-sourced garden flowers and wild foliage.

Inspired by the history and planting within the exquisite setting of the walled garden and its 13 Victorian glasshouses, we will create wildly romantic bridal bouquets and Dutch Masters inspired floral arrangements, and learn how to style and photograph our work to it best possible light.

You will leave with new camera skills - whether it’s getting the most out of your camera phone, or learning about lighting, composition and styling - and a plethora of professional, fine-art images of your work that will be invaluable for your portfolio. As well as sharing my knowledge and style of photography, I will also capture candid, natural images of you working during the day, including a headshot of you.

Ali from Bloomologie will be sharing her own journey into floral artistry with you as well as guide you through her signature wild garden style of bouquet-making in the morning.  After a delicious, relaxed lunch in the 19th century Vinery Cafe, eating food sourced from the one of the most intact Victorian kitchen gardens in the UK, we will create a still-life table centre using Bloomologie’s favourite foam-free method.

This workshop will challenge and inspire you, and you’ll be surrounded by nature as well as a community of like-minded souls. It will help you focus on finding and suturing your own creative voice and style, and you will come away brimming with new ideas and skills.

About Bloomologie:

Bloomologie was born out of founder, Alison’s, frustration that she couldn’t buy the kind of flowers that she loved to grow in her own garden, and at a lack of seasonality and localism within floristry - not to mention sustainability.

Alison was a magazine and newspaper journalist for 15 years, but a passion for gardening and all things flower-powered led her to study horticulture with the RHS, followed by floristry with the acclaimed Judith Blacklock in Knightsbridge, the Mary Berry of flowers. She has worked at the internationally renowned Moyses Stevens florists in Sloane Square and for hip east-London events and contract florist Rebel Rebel, and for hotels including Conrad St James and The Intercontinental at the O2 in Greenwich.

Specialising in local, seasonal and natural flowers - the kind you won't find in the supermarket - and buys British flowers wherever possible, to create a look that is wild and wondrous; fragrant and fabulous.

“It’s all about following the flower - the organic form of the garden and the way a flower wants to grow. I hate forced, perfect floral arrangements, they’re the opposite of nature.”

Bloomologie’s work has been featured in Vogue, Style Me Pretty, Martha Weddings and Ruffled to name just a few.
